Recurrent neurofibroma of the orbit.

چکیده
A 55-year-old male patient presented with gradual progressive outward and downward deviation of right eye since last two years, with history of a similar complaint 10 years ago when he was diagnosed as having neurofibroma of the orbit. Computed Tomography imaging revealed a large, multilobulated, heterogeneous, soft tissue density mass lesion in the retro bulbar region on the medial side of right orbit suggestive of a neurofibroma. Excision and histopathology confirmed it to be a recurrence of neurofibroma of the orbit.

Plexiform neurofibroma in the submandibular gland along with small diffuse neurofibroma in the floor of the mouth but without neurofibromatosis-1: a rare case report
Plexiform neurofibroma is more commonly seen in the orbit, neck, back, and inguinal region. It is extremely rare in the submandibular gland. These lesions rarely transform into malignancy but are locally infiltrative and can lead to haemorrhage. Therefore, plexiform neurofibroma should always be considered during differential diagnosis while excising a submandibular gland mass. We present here ...
متن کاملIntraosseous Neurofibroma and Concurrent Involvement of the Mandible, Maxilla and Orbit: Report of a Case
Neurofibroma is an autosomal dominant disorder which has major criteria such as hyperpigmentation (cafe-au lait spots), cutaneous and subcutaneous tumors and bone deformities. In this report, a case of multifocal intraosseous neurofibroma in a 16-year-old male with right facial asymmetry, multiple unerupted maxillary posterior teeth and a previous history of infratemporal and orbital neurofibro...
متن کاملPigmented Neurofibroma : A Case Report with Immunohistochemical and Ultrastructural Study
Pigmented neurofibroma is a rare variant of neurofibroma showing melanin production. The clinical diagnosis is difficult to establish requiring the histopathological examination to differentiate between the melanotic neurofibroma and other pigmented tumours. We report an unusual case of a huge, recurrent, pigmented neurofibroma with extended, macroscopically striking pigmentation in a 45 year o...
متن کاملUnusual Case of a Proptosed Eye: Isolated Right Maxillary Neurofibroma
Neurofibroma is a slow growing benign tumour of the peripheral nerve sheath which is frequently associated with neurofibromatosis type 1 (Prakash et al., 2014). Isolated solitary occurrence of neurofibroma in the maxillary sinus is rare with only 29 reported cases in the literature. We present a rare case of a 70-year-old gentleman who was referred to ENT with a right maxillary sinus neurofibro...
متن کاملDysplasia of the orbit and adjacent bone associated with plexiform neurofibroma and ocular disease in 42 NF-1 patients.
Neurofibromas are the hallmark of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Interestingly, generalised and localised interference or dysfunction of bone is also a key element of the NF1 phenotype. In the skull, NF1-associated orbital dysplasia often results in a severe disfigurement of affected individuals. However, the underlying pathology of orbital dysplasia is a complex phenomenon and up to now poorl...
